Women: Fourth-seeded Xavier (LA) took the lead for good in the 14th minute and rolled to a 71-59 victory against top-seeded Rust in the semifinals of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. Abryhia Irons had 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals for Xavier (11-6), and O.C. Mbakop Ngassam had 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. XULA (11-6) has reached the final for the first time in four years and will play third-seeded Edward Waters, an 80-76 winner against second-seeded Talladega, at 2 p.m. EST Sunday for the championship and an automatic berth to NAIA nationals. Edward Waters (11-4) has won 10 in a row.

Men: Second-seeded XULA spread the wealth and cruised to a 74-50 victory against sixth-seeded Philander Smith in the semifinals of the GCAC Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. Rayshawn Mart, Makye Richard and Ed Carter scored 12 points apiece for Xavier (12-4), and Corey Dunning had 10. XULA, the defending champion, will play top-seeded and ninth-ranked Talladega (24-2) at 4 p.m. EST Sunday for the championship and an automatic berth to NAIA nationals. Talladega defeated fifth-seeded Edward Waters 73-70 in the other semifinal.
