Two Florida A&M Alumni will compete in the Golf Channel's new reality competition series, Altered Course.

The show combines golf, speed, fitness, teamwork and decision-making as teams navigate, as fast as possible, re-imagined and extreme golf holes, sometimes exceeding 700 yards. Altered Course’s inaugural season will take place in Montego Bay, Jamaica.georgia boys golf channelShepherd Archie (L) and Wesley Yates

The tournament-style competition series will feature eight two-person teams racing against the clock as they take on the twists and turns of these extreme golf holes – one Altered Course hole can incorporate upwards of three traditional golf holes – in an alternate-shot or scramble format. Teams will be scored on both shots taken as well as time, with weekly eliminations leaving one team left standing as the champion of Altered Course.

One of the two-person teams competing in the series are the “Georgia Boys”, Shepherd Archie and Wesley Yates two college buddies who attended the same HBCU.

Best friends and college teammates while at Florida A&M University, Shepherd and Wesley have ultimate goals of walking the fairways on the PGA TOUR. Young and strong, they learned the game through The First Tee (Wesley – First Tee of Atlanta; Shepherd – First Tee of Augusta). A member of the First Tee of Augusta Wall of Fame, Shepherd also competed in the 2004 and 2007 First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, and was a First Tee Scholar in 2007. Wesley was a member of his high school region championship golf team in 2005, and was team MVP in 2006 and 2007.
