Alabama State's soccer season ends at South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Alabama State's historic soccer season came to a halt as top-seeded South Carolina shut out the Lady Hornets in round one of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.

The top-scoring offense in the nation had trouble solving the Gamecocks' stiff defense, and was never able to mount much of an attack. South Carolina outshot Alabama State 29-1 and scored four first-half goals to quickly build what ended up being an insurmountable advantage.

Alabama State's season ends at 11-10-1.
