BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Southern University at New Orleans Lady Knights repeated as national runners-up at the 2019 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held February 28-March 2, 2019 at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D.suno witf19

The Lady Knights scored 63 points on their way to a second-place overall finish, though the team—comprised of only 10 student-athletes—had a slew of podium finishes at the meet.

Stacey-Ann Williams, a freshman, placed first overall in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.63 seconds. Williams replaces Lady Knights' Shadae Hylton as the program's top women's quarter-miler.

Program newcomer Sasha Newman, who competed under former Dillard University Head Coach Bobby Williams during her undergraduate career, placed second in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72 seconds.

Sprinter Kimone Hinds excelled in both the women's 60- and 200- meter dashes, placing first and second in the events, respectively. Hinds finished the 60-meter in 7.50 and the 200-meter in 24:18—a season personal best.

The women's 1600-meter relay team, composed of Kimona Smikle, Xuxa Peart, Kadeja Campbell and Stacey-Ann Williams continued to dominate in the event, blowing away the rest of the field in the event by nearly 7 seconds. The Lady Knights finished with a time of 3:41.63.
