Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State University has announced the hiring of Lamont Hinson in the department of athletics as the Assistant Athletics Director and Sports Information Director. "He brings a wealth of knowledge as it pertains to media relations and sports information. I'm confident that this will be an environment for him to excel as an athletic administrator and he'll be a valuable asset for our athletic programs to continue growing."

Hinson rejoins the FSU family after serving nearly six years as the Director of Sports Information at Johnson C. Smith University. Prior to relocating to Charlotte, NC, Hinson served two years as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Fayetteville State.
In his post at Fayetteville State, Hinson will serve as the institutional representative to the media for all athletic activities; as well as work alongside the University Public Relations Director. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, coordinating media relations and game operation activities; writing and distributing press releases and media guides; maintaining the athletic website, compiling team statistical information, and other duties as assigned.

In an attempt to contribute to the growth of the conference, Hinson serves as a member of the CIAA Management Council. He was appointed to his management council seat after being elected president of the CIAA Sports Information Directors Association (CIAA-SIDA).

Hinson currently serves on three committees for College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He is also a member of the Barry University School of Business Alumni Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.

A native of Fayetteville, NC, Hinson graduated cum laude from Fayetteville State University in 2003 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration. He later earned a master’s in Business Administration and in Sports Management from Barry University in 2006.
